從出生到斷奶的野兔為仔野兔。對剛出生的野兔注意冷暖、防風(fēng)雨;多給產(chǎn)后母兔喂新鮮多汁、營養(yǎng)豐富、拌有大豆粉和玉米粉的青料，以保證母兔有充足的奶水喂仔兔。一般情況下，仔兔以30-45日齡斷奶為宜。如采用頻密型和半頻密型繁殖方法，斷奶期可提前到達25-35日齡;作商品肉用野兔的仔野兔，可在28日齡斷奶。斷奶的**好方法是：將母野兔移走，留仔野兔于窩中，繼續(xù)飼養(yǎng)10天左右后群養(yǎng)。

作為商品的肉用野兔可采取飼喂精料、青料和補充飼料相結(jié)合的育肥方法，即在鮮嫩的青草或菜葉中加入大豆粉、玉米粉等，同時加入適量的骨粉和含硒生長素，以促進生長。經(jīng)馴化的商品兔可進行籠養(yǎng)，也可進行較大規(guī)模圈養(yǎng)，密度控制在每10-20只，一般4-6個月可育肥出欄。
